 Importers Institute Minimize

The IMPORTERS INSTITUTE is an informal national association of over 300 New Zealand importing companies. We aim to keep members informed on topical issues of interest and to represent importers’ interests before Government policy makers  eg. NZ Customs, MAF, MED  etc. as well as shipping companies, airlines and the transport industry.

Importers views and interests are promoted by us being a member of the Border Sector Industry Stakeholder Forum chaired by NZ Customs Comptroller Martyn Dunne.

The  Institutes Regional Secretary is Ivan Mc Nicholl in Wellington. Daniel Silva from Auckland is the National Secretary.

Members receive Import News, an email news service. They have discounted interactive access to databases of import and export statistics, tariffs, duty concessions and supplier codes.

Together with Chambers of Commerce and universities, the Importers Institute runs training seminars in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Members receive a discount on seminar fees. Topics include import management and export documentation.

To resolve an issue relative to an industry the Institute acts as a forum for collective action on issues that affect an importer. We are available to assist you with all aspects of importing.

Our web site www.importers.org.nz has a facility called TOPS ( Trade Opportunity Section) and UFO to assist importers locate suppliers by commodity and country. Overseas suppliers seeking local buyers are invited to create their own free listing.

The web site is a compehensive reference site for importers with direct links to Government agencies with a border interest.

Papers presented at Seminars have been posted as general information. Refer Getting started in Importing and Advanced Import Management.

The Institutes web site links to the Secretaries respective company sites. Ivan. www.cawl.co.nz  043827651 and Daniel wwww.silva.co.nz 092504014.
